Osian is famous as home to the cluster of ruined Hindu and Jain temples dating back from the 8th to 12th centuries. The town was a major religious cum trading centre of the kingdom of Marwar during the Gurjara Pratihara dynasty. Of the 16 shrines in the group, the Surya Temple, Sachiya Mata Temple, Katan Bawari and the Jain temple dedicated to Mahavira stands out in their grace and architectural grandeur.
Desert trekking is a fantastic way to experience these intriguing landscapes, local people that bring remote vistas, stunning skyscapes and surprisingly varied terrain. At HACRA we are lucky to find less visited part of Thar desert to offer best desert walking to experience on foot. Best time is during winter months in between October to early March.

It’s a good idea to do this trip by car and driver. It’s good to start in the morning because the Osian temple will get busy latter in the day, Jain temple opens from sunrise to sunset and it will takes about one and half hours from Jodhpur to Osian & the distance is 65KM. So it will be good to start about 9:30-10:00 AM. The distance from Jodhpur to Jaisalmer is about 300 KM oneway.
